Brent painted for more than 50 years. He used a variety of styles, techniques and mediums to capture his subject.
Works

Growing up in Utah, Brent developed a deep admiration for what he called the 'cowboy code'. The image of a man with his horse symbolized honor and the beauty of a simpler time. The Cowboy Series was cut short by Brent's death in 2014 and included just three gorgeous paintings, Pull and Resist and Lone Rider and Times They Are a-Changin' (not shown, Sandra Lee Gallery, SF, sold to private collector).
In the late 70s Brent found mystery and beauty in triangles. The shape found its way into paintings, and eventually Brent labored to build triangle frames for his canvas, and used them to explore many subjects. This is a small sample of Brent's Triangle series that spans over 30 years and includes works featured in several shows.
As a young man, Brent served in the US Navy and spent time on an ice-breaker. That experience impacted him tremendously and decades later would be the subject of one of Brent's final series of work, the Arctic Series.
